スペインが生んだ至宝であり、現代を代表する神技ギタリスト。
今やフラメンコ界のみならず、全ての音楽ファンを魅了するビセンテ・アミーゴが、
最新アルバム「ティエラ」とともに、間もなく再来日！

ニューアルバム「ティエラ」はガイ・フレッシャーによるプロデュース、バックもマーク・ノップラーのバンドです。この顔ぶれが揃った経緯とレコーディングの感触などをお聞かせください。また今回、ケルティック・ミュージックを取り込んだ理由は？

The recording process was extremely natural and really flowed. I was initially worried since my English is not great and I thought it would be more difficult. We all understood eachother from the first day. We communicated musically. It was an incredible experience.
The reason I wanted to do this album was because I heard the musicians play in a concert with Mark Knopfler in 2010. Imedeitly I realized that my music could blend with theirs. I wanted our music to embrace eachother and prove that all musics are related. We all come from the mother, which is music. No matter how different the music genres seem, they can blend well.
今回のレコーディングはとても自然でうまくいきました。最初は、私はあまり英語がうまくないので、ちょっと難しいかなと心配していました。でも、「英語」に関しての問題は全くなく、レコーディング初日からすぐにお互いをわかり合えました。今回は、「音楽」で通じ合えるという素晴らしい体験をしました。
まぜ私がこのアルバムを作ろうと思ったかというと、’10年にマーク・ノップラーとミュージシャン達のコンサートを聴いたからです。すぐに私の音楽性に合うのではないかと思いました。私たちの音楽性がうまく溶けこみ合い、全てのミュージシャンが繋がっているというのを証明したいと思いました。私たちは皆「母なる音楽」から生まれています。たとえどんなに音楽性が異なっても、必ずうまく溶け込み合えます。

以前にはオーケストラとの協奏曲も手がけるなど、フラメンコ・ギターの可能性を追求されています。フラメンコ・ギターの魅力を今、ヴィセンテさんはどう考えられますか？また近い将来、実現したい試みはありますか？

I believe the flamenco guitar is an extremely expressive instrument. It is able to reach all kinds of audiences and have them understand. It allows you to tell a story without lyrics. To speak in an international language.
I have a lot of ideas. I would love to be able to convert them all into reality. Things that I feel like doing or that seem natural to me. People always ask me if I am trying to take the flamenco guitar to a differnt place or break boundaries. I am just trying to express the ideas and melodies that are inside of me. That I need to release. In the manner that I see most fitting.
「フラメンコ・ギター」は素晴らしい楽器だと思います。世の中にはいろいろなお客様がいますが、その全ての方がフラメンコ・ギターの素晴らしさをわかると思います。「言葉」がなくても「物語」を奏でる事が出来ますから。まさに全ての人に通じる「国際言語」ですね。私にはたくさんのアイデアがあるので、その全てを実現させたいですね。私がやりたいと思っていることや、自然に思えること。よくインタビューで「フラメンコ・ギターで新たな局地を開拓するには？」と聞かれますが、私はただ、自分がやりたいと思っていることや自分の中のアイデアを解き放つだけです。それは、とても自然に思えることですね。

フラメンコ・ギターは演奏技術と楽曲の善し悪しが比較的比例するジャンルのような気がします。ヴィセンテさんは超絶テクニックの持ち主ですが、フラメンコ・ギターにおけるテクニックと叙情性について何かお考えはありますか？

Technique is crucial in flamenco. It must be intertwined with your expression. It is what makes each guitarist sound a certain way. You must always be able to play what your mind imagines. That is not always an easy thing. As you practice more and more you compose with the possibilities that your technique allows you. Sometimes you compose ahead of what your technique allows you and you must really make an effort to then play it.
「テクニック」はとても重要です。「表現力」とうまく絡み合わせなければいけません。それが、各ギタリストの「個性」になるのでしょう。常に「あなたの中の創造性」に合わせて演奏しなければいけません。もちろん、それは簡単なことではありません。日々練習を重ねてあなたの中の可能性を引き出してください。それが「テクニック、技術」に繋がります。ときにはあなたの「技術力」を超えることにぶつかることもありますがそれは「努力、練習」によって超えられるでしょう。

今回の名古屋公演はライヴハウスでの公演です。名古屋のファンはかなり幸せだし、全国のファンが名古屋に観に来るのではないかと思われます。小さな会場で演奏する醍醐味、またどんなところをオーディエンスには楽しみにして欲しいですか？

I enjoy more intimate settings, or more than enjoy I would say that I suffer less (laughs). I get very nervous in shows and large venues make me more nervous. When I am at the soundcheck in a large venue I feel much more pressure. Once I am on stage if everything starts well then I am good at blocking the audience out and I do not differentiate between a larger or smaller audience.
I am looking forward to all the Japanese dates. I just hope that I connect with the audience. I always hope that. That I am able to reach them and have them feel my music.
小さな会場で演奏することを楽しみにしています。いや、楽しみにしているというより緊張しますね（笑）。私は、毎回コンサートではとても神経質になります。特に大きな会場で演奏するときは…。大きな会場でのサウンドチェックなどは非常に緊張します。でも、公演が始まって演奏がうまく始まって、お客さんをのせていければ、あまり会場の大きさは関係ありませんね。私は全ての日本での公演をとても楽しみにしています。私はいつもお客さんと一体化し、お客さんの心の中に届いて私の音楽を感じて貰えればいいなと思っています。

ライヴで必ず心がけていることがあれば教えてください。

I always have a cross that my mother gave to me in my pocket. It goes everywhere with me.
母からもらった十字架をポケットに入れて、いつも持ち歩いています。

世界の伝統音楽が危機に瀕しています。米国ではジャズが壊滅状態。ロック音楽もかつての勢いを失っています。フラメンコの状況はどうでしょう。

I feel lucky in that aspect that I am playing as much as always. I think flamenco music is suffering the most in Spain at the moment. It seems to still be healthy in the rest of the world but in Spain I do play less. I think everyone does.
そういった面では私はラッキーだったかなと思っています。前と変わらずコンサートが出来ています。「フラメンコ」は本国スペインではとても苦戦しています。逆に世界中、スペイン意外の国では、人気も高いので最近はスペインでプレイすることの方が少ないですね。みんなそうですよ。
